The Alliance Program is very active and growing rapidly.
In some cases, organizations may be cooperating with OSHA for the first time. In others, they may
be building on existing relationships with the Agency that were developed through other OSHA
cooperative programs such as Strategic Partnerships, VPP, and On-site Consultation.
Alliances are being formed with a variety of organizations, including industry associations,
professional societies. Some Alliances, such as the OSHA and Drug Free Workplace Alliance, includes
federal agency participation (MSHA). The OSHA and Drug Free Workplace Alliance includes nine labor
unions:
- American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA)
- Associated General Contractors of America (AGC)
- International Association of Bridge, Structural Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers (IABSORIW)
- International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers (IAHFIAW)
- International Brotherhood of Boilermakers (IBB)
- International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE)
- International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT)
- Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA)
- National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA)
- TAUC – The Association of Union Constructors (TAUC)
- Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC & RA)
- United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of
the United States and Canada (UAJAPPFI)
- United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBCJA)
15 National Alliances have been signed professional societies and many of their local chapters have
signed Regional Alliances.
The Alliance Program has 72 Alliances supporting these efforts including:
- General Industry, 26 Alliances representing 36% of Alliances
- Ergonomics, 22 Alliances representing 30% of Alliances
- Construction, 14 Alliances representing 19% of Alliances
- Small Business, 21 Alliances representing 29% of Alliances
- Immigrant Employers and Workers, 16 Alliances representing 22% of Alliances
