Alliance Background

Overview
The IEC Alliance addresses reducing and preventing electrical contractors employees' exposure to falls, rear-end auto collisions and material-handling hazards by providing the IEC membership and others with information and guidance and increasing their access to training resources. The Alliance's goals include:
Outreach and communication:
- Develop and disseminate information at conferences, events, and through print and electronic media, including links from the OSHA and IEC web sites.
- Speak, exhibit, or appear at conferences, local meetings, or other events.
- Promote and encourage IEC members' awareness of and participation in OSHA's cooperative programs. In addition, act as mentors to IEC members who aspire to excellence in safety and health.

- October 14, 2002: Extending OSHA's Impact, Paula White, Director, Cooperative and State Programs, USDOL-OSHA. In addressing the Integrated Electrical Services a member company of IEC, Ms. White describes OSHA's cooperative programs, especially as they relate to the electrical sector of the construction industry.

The Alliance succeeded in raising awareness within the IEC and the industry in general by maintaining a high profile for safety in all IEC publications, its Web site, and its annual convention.
