Overview
The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Atlanta West Area Office, Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) and Mental Health America of Georgia (MHA-GA). The focus of this Alliance is to provide GAMH members and the public with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect workers by reducing and preventing exposure to mental health hazards and/or addressing work-related suicide and drug overdose issues in all industries.

Dissemination September 9, 2022 In support of Construction Suicide Prevention Week (September 5 – 9, 2022, the Alliance group the distributed copies of the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention’s, “Toolbox Talk: Mental Health & Suicide prevention as a Safety Priority.” Safety and Health Management System, Construction, Hispanic and Temporary Workers 500+

Dissemination January 2023 During this period, the Alliance group created a mental health resource needs assessments for employers and employees, which consists of 10 questions and takes 5 minutes to complete. Training/Presentation Oct. 7, 2022 Alliance Meeting Member of the Georgia Mental Health Alliance Stephanie Michelle Basey, PhD Candidate (Rural Health Sciences, Mercer SOM) and Anne Montgomery, PhD (Co-Program Director Rural Health Sciences, Mercer SOM) presented results of their Georgia Farmer Mental Well-Being Study. Training/Presentation Oct. 7, 2022 Alliance Meeting Member of the Georgia Mental Health Alliance Kimberly Erukunuakpor, PhD, MPH (Epidemiologist, GA DPH) presented her analysis of the 2021 Georgia Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) Mental Health and Self Harm modules. Training/Presentation Oct. 7, 2022 Alliance Meeting Member of the Georgia Mental Health Alliance Erin Clayton (Program Manager, Silence the Shame, Inc.) shared information about their workplace mental health seminars and trainings.
