Overview
The purpose of the Alliance is to foster a culture of prevention through sharing best practices and technical knowledge to promote safe and healthful working conditions for Local 478 IUOE members and employees of various construction companies by providing information and guidance that will help them protect employees' health and safety by reducing and preventing exposure to workplace hazards.

***Numerous telephone calls and emails were exchanged throughout this evaluation period between Bridgeport Area Office's Compliance Assistance Specialist Leona May, Operating Engineer's President Kyle Zimmer.
October 21, 2016 – CAS Leona May attended a team meeting with the Connecticut Hearing Conservation Committee that the Operating Engineers is a member.
January 4, 2017 – CAS Leona May attended a team planning meeting with Operating Engineer's President Kyle Zimmer.
March 1, 2017 – CAS Leona May attended a team planning meeting with Operating Engineer's President Kyle Zimmer.
Events and Products
October 21, 2016 (and throughout this review period) – CAS Leona May participated on the Connecticut Hearing Conservation Committee with the Operating Engineers that are a member of the Committee.
March 3, 2017 – CAS Leona May attended the Local 478 sponsored Safety and Health Symposium at the Operating Engineer's main office in Hamden, CT.
June 9, 2017 – The Operating Engineers union sponsored a Hazwoper training course at their training center in Meriden, CT. OSHA personnel were invited and attended the training.
April 18th and 19th, 2017 – CAS Leona May attended the Construction Career Days hosted by the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 777, in conjunction with the Operating Engineers' Union, Local 478. Bridgeport CAS attended the event and established an OSHA information booth with publications, information and publications.
Outreach and Communication
Outreach goals are to promoting the national dialogue on workplace safety and health the construction industry.
Communication is primarily conducted through email, websites and mail distribution.

The Bridgeport Area Office will continue to present various safety and health topics and training in coordination with Local 478.
