    3. Overview

      The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), represented by the Atlanta-East, Atlanta-West, and Savannah Area Offices and 1OSHA Sustainable Workforce Alliance continue to recognize the value of maintaining a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful American workplaces. Specifically, the OSHA Sustainable Workforce Alliance is committed to providing members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect the health and safety of youth workers and educators in career/technical education programs throughout Georgia.

Outreach materials were distributed to students and information was shared regarding workplace safety and health. Over 350-400 students attended the event.     Speech/Presentation and Dissemination January 31, 2019 A member of the Alliance group discussed OSHA and careers in workplace safety and health with home school students at Eastside Academic Studies (EAS). Safety and Health Program; Youth Workers 10 students
    Speech/Presentation March 9 - 23, 2019 In conjunction with the annual Atlanta Science Festival, a representative from Georgia Tech visited with students at MLK Elementary School in Clayton County, GA.     Speech/Presentation and Dissemination March 28, 2019 A representative from the OSHA's Atlanta Regional Office participated in a career event at Redan High School in DeKalb County, Georgia. Safety and Health Program; Youth Workers 100 students
    Dissemination April 4, 2019 Volume 18, Issue 6 of the OSHA QuickTakes Newsletter featured an article highlighting the success of the 2019 CEFGA CareerExpo in March 21 - 22, 2019. Construction and Young Workers 240,000 - subscribers
    Dissemination/Other During this period An article was featured in the Cartersville Daily Tribune, which highlighted Batson-Cook Construction's outreach efforts in support of the Cass High School Construction Program.     Dissemination June 14, 2019 OSHA distributed a wide range of youth-related posters and pamphlets in support of the Allnex Manufacturing Company's Continuing Education and Math, while learning Engineering Science and Safety (CEAMLESS) Program. These events enhanced the students' skills and ability, as well as their understanding of workplace safety and health.     Outreach Event August 2018 through July 2019 School Outreach Events AGC Georgia members and others During this period, the Alliance group, represented by the AGC of Georgia and others, conducted the following outreach activities at schools throughout Georgia addressing opportunities in the construction industry and the importance of safety:

    1) A representative with MetroPower visited with students at Harris County High School on career day to discuss career paths.

    2) Representatives with Choate Construction Company and Building Information Modeling (BIM) hosted a booth at the Gwinnett County Public School Career Connection Expo.

    3) On February 23, 2019, construction management students from the AGC Georgia's student chapter at Kennesaw State University visited a construction site managed by Brasfield & Gorrie.

    4) On March 28, 2019, a representative from the Alliance group participated in the Annual Career Day at Redan High School in DeKalb County, Georgia.

    Outreach Event March 21-22, 2019 CEFGA Career Expo Various Alliance Members Members of the Alliance group supported the CEFGA World of Construction in a variety of areas, including serving as volunteers, judges and exhibitors. The total attendance for the event was 8,615, which included the following:

    - 5,914 student
    - 1,187 Influencers (Teachers, Parents, Counselors and School Administrators)
    - 1,514 Industry Volunteers

    Training, Outreach Event March 21, 2019 Construction Management Course A representative from Brasfield & Gorrie On March 13, 2019, a representative from Brasfield & Gorrie conducted a presentation for Construction Management students at Kennesaw State University in Marietta, Georgia. The presentation focused on safety and health, as well as other aspects of the career-field.     Training, Outreach Event March 21, 2019 Jobsite Visit Representatives from Batson-Cook Construction Co.. During this period, Batson-Cook Construction, an AGC - Georgia member, provided 140 students from the Cass High School construction program with access to a jobsite. Students attended safety briefing, site-specific safety orientation, completed site safety test and review key safety protocols. During the visit, training stations were set-up throughout the jobsite and students received hands-on experience.     Presentation, Outreach Event April 16, 2019 White House Initiative on HBCU Representatives from OSHA Representatives from the OSHA's Atlanta Regional Office participated in a career event at Spelman College, in support of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).     Training, Presentation/Outreach Event June 17 - 21, 2019 Continuing Education and Math, while learning Engineering Science and Safety (CEAMLESS) Representatives from Georgia Tech Representatives from the Georgia Tech On-site Consultation Program participated in the Allnex Manufacturing Company's Continuing Education and Math, while learning Engineering Science and Safety (CEAMLESS) Program. CEAMLESS is focused on developing a sustainable workforce for the manufacturing industry.
