   3. Overview

      The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the United Safety Council, Inc. (USC) agreed to establish an Alliance to reduce and prevent employee exposure to workplace hazards associated with disasters by developing and sharing information, guidance, and training resources on emergency preparedness and effective response.

   4. Implementation Team Members

      The implementation team consists of the following representatives:

      • Staff members from the OSHA Tampa Area Office in Tampa, FL
      • Staff members from the United Safety Council, Inc.

2. Implementation Team Meetings

   Implementation team meetings, in person, by telephone, and through e-mail correspondence on the following dates:

   • November 18, 2015
   • January 11, 2016; April 21, 2016; May 17, 2016; June 21, 2016; July 7, 2016; September 9, 2016; October 4, 2016; and October 24, 2016
   • January 25, 2017; February 27, 2017; April 3, 2017; May 23, 2017; June 21, 2017; July9, 2017; August 28, 2017; and September 14, 2017

   The Alliance coordinators from both groups maintained regular contact in person and in written correspondence throughout the reporting period to monitor the Alliance's progress and results.

   The following table summarizes the Alliance's activities in support of the goals in the Alliance agreement.

   Raising Awareness of OSHA's Rulemaking and Enforcement Initiatives: The Participants intend to work together to achieve the following goal related to raising awareness of OSHA's rulemaking and enforcement initiatives: Convene or participate in forums, round table discussions, or stakeholder meetings on workplace violence, emergency planning, and occupational safety and health programs to help forge innovative solutions in the workplace or to provide input on safety and health issues.

   Speech/Presentation	During this period, staff from the OSHA Tampa Area Office provided members of the Alliance group and others with updates regarding OSHA's emphasis programs and enforcement activities: On October 21, 2015, an OSHA representative conducted an OSHA update presentation in the Tampa area. On October 30, 2015, an OSHA representative conducted a presentation on confined spaces at the Construction Networking Luncheon in the Orlando area. On August 12, 2016, an OSHA representative conducted an OSHA update presentation in the Tampa area. On July 12, 2017, "Heat Illness Prevention - Do You Have a Heat Illness Prevention Plan" presentation conducted in the Tampa area. On May 17, 2017, the Alliance group led by USC served as primary sponsors to the Alliance for Central Florida - Safety Day. This day-long event focused on safety and health in the workplace. On July 12, 2017, an OSHA representative conducted a presentation in Tampa, FL, focused on the development of heat illness prevention "Do You Have a Heat Illness Prevention Plan." July 13, 2017, an OSHA representative conducted a presentation in Tampa FL, focused on the development of heat illness prevention "Do You Have a Heat Illness Prevention Plan."    Training and Education: The Participants intend to work together to achieve the following training and education goals: To develop effective training and education programs for employers and employees in general industry regarding a wide range of safety and health issues, such as safety and health management systems, emergency planning (including pandemic influenza), workplace violence, as well as first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) programs, and to communicate such information to constituent employers and workers. To deliver or arrange for the delivery of certified training courses and other courses on the topics above.

5. Upcoming Milestones for FY 2018

   • The Alliance group will continue to promote the benefits of an effective safety and health management systems to small business through central Florida.
   • The Alliance group will continue to explore new ways to reach out to the small business community including providing special education programs to employers and employees in the construction industry, as well as general industry.
   • The Alliance group is also planning to conduct three training sessions and/ or presentations. The topics for these events will be determined later.
