Monitoring Methods Used by OSHA

Analyte code (IMIS no.) P230
Sampling group
Sampler/Sampling media 25-mm quartz fiber filter, coated with titanium oxysulfate, followed by an impinger containing methyl p-tolyl sulfide (MTS) and 4-chlorophenyl methyl sulfone in acetonitrile (ACN) [SLTC116]
Sampling time*

15 min

Sampling volume (TWA)*

15 L

Sampling flow rate (TWA)*

1 L/min

Sampling volume (STEL/Peak/C)*
Sampling flow rate (STEL/Peak/C)*
Analytical method instruments GC-FID
Method reference OSHA PV2321 (partially validated)
Notes

The sampling method described in OSHA Method PV2321 will collect both particulate and vapor. However, any peracetic acid particulate collected on the pre-filter (H₂O₂ scrubber) will volatilize quickly, and the resultant vapor will be collected in the impinger solution.

Special requirements

* All sampling instructions above are recommended guidelines for OSHA Compliance Safety and Health Officers (CSHOs), please see the corresponding OSHA method reference for complete details.
