Subject: List of Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTL's) per 29 CFR 1910.7

A. Purpose. This instruction establishes the OSHA List of Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories on the OSHA Computerized Information System (OCIS).

B. Scope. This instruction applies OSHA-wide.

C. Action. OSHA Regional Administrators and Area Directors shall ensure that the OSHA List of Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories is used in accordance with the following:

1. The OSHA List of Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories can be accessed as menu selection "TL" on the OCIS menu.
2. The OSHA List of Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories is to be used for compliance purposes and to assist manufacturers in locating OSHA recognized laboratories and the product categories for which they were recognized.
3. Questions concerning the NRTL Recognition Program should be addressed to the NRTL Recognition Program, Office of Variance Determination, Room N3653, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210. Telephone (202) 523-7193 or FTS 523-7193.
4. The OSHA List of Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories will be available to OSHA personnel through the OSHA Computerized Information System (OCIS). Periodic updates will be issued to participant laboratories and other interested parties. No quarterly Notice transmitting the list will be issued.

D. Approved Plan States. Regional Administrators shall ensure that this instruction is forwarded to each State Designee and Consultation Program Manager. They shall also advise the States that the current OSHA List of Nationally recognized Testing Laboratories will be maintained on the OSHA Computerized Information System (OCIS).
