Hazard

High winds generated by the helicopter blades can throw loose items or trash at employees and cause them to be injured.

Requirements

• Good housekeeping shall be maintained in all helicopter loading and unloading areas. [29 CFR 1910.183(g)]
  • Keep helipad area free from litter, or other debris. [29 CFR 1910.183(f)].
• Items such as loose clothing, hats, gloves, and scarves, should be properly secured before entering the helipad area. [29 CFR 1910.183(f)].
• Use complete eye protection, as well as hardhats secured by chinstraps. [29 CFR 1910.183(e)(1)].
