Training topics will include fall prevention in general industry.  Plan to revise existing and translate training and educational materials into Chinese and Korean.
Casa Latina Seattle WA $140,000 Ergonomic Hazards
The grantee will provide 1-hour musculoskeletal disorder prevention training to day laborers in the construction, gardening, moving and home healthcare industries.  Target audience includes limited-English-proficiency, non-literate, high-hazard-industry,  minority, and hard-to-reach workers in the Redmond, WA, area.  Plan to adapt existing training materials.  Training will be offered in Spanish.
Finishing Trades Institute of the Mid-Atlantic Region Philadelphia PA $140,000 Construction Focus Four
The grantee will provide 32-hour and 40-hour training to workers in the construction industry. Target audience includes journey workers in the high-hazard construction industry.  Training topics will include construction focus four hazards.  Plan to use existing training materials.
Iowa State University of Science and Technology Ames IA $140,000 Agricultural Safety & Health including Grain Handling Ops
The grantee will provide training on preventing grain dust explosions to grain handling and processing employees and supervisors. Target audience includes small business, young, migrant workers handling grain elevators, flour and feed mills.  Plans to use existing materials.
LIUNA Training & Education Fund Pomfret Center CT $139,561 Construction Road Zones
The grantee will provide 7.5-hour training to workers in the road construction industry. Target audience includes minority and Latino workers through seven affiliated training fund locations across the United States. Target audience includes small business employers and employees who work in the high-hazard communication tower industry. Training topics will include fall prevention in construction, specifically hazards associated with communication tower industry.  Plan to develop training materials.
Nebraska Appleseed Center for Law in the Public Interest Lincoln  NE $81,000 Multiple Topics

The grantee will provide 5-hour training to workers in the construction industry. Target audience includes first-generation Hispanic/Latino workers and trainers throughout Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. Private Industry Council DBA Futures Through Training Ogden  UT $139,993 Heat Illness Prevention
The grantee will provide 1.5-hour heat illness prevention training to workers in the agricultural industry.  Target audience is workers in high hazard industries, high fatality rates, non literate and low literate, minority and hard-to-reach workers with limited English proficiency.  Training topics to include heat stress, prevention, and response. Plan to use existing training materials.  Training materials will be in Spanish, Burmese, Thai, and Chuukese.
Red Rocks Community College ( State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Educational System) Lakewood CO $124,911 Oil & Gas Production
The grantee will present a 21-hour train-the-trainer class called "Tools for Hazard On-the-job-training" to oil and gas extraction and production crew foremen in Colorado, North Dakota and Houston, Texas. Crew foremen will train field workers. Target audience includes young, temporary, limited English proficiency, and low-literacy workers. Training will include scenario-based exercises, videos of actual incidents, and case studies. Training will be in English and materials will be developed in Spanish.  
The University of Texas at Arlington Arlington TX $110,209 Tree Care / Landscaping
The grantee will provide 1-hour training to tree care and landscaping workers. Target audience are small business worker trainees, English as a second language, Spanish speaking non literary workers in the tree and landscaping industries. Training topics will include fall protection, equipment safety, machine guarding, and personal protective equipment. Plan to use existing training materials. Applicants materials will be in Spanish.   
United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Washington DC $140,000 Ergonomic Hazards
The grantee  will provide 2-hour and 4-hour sessions ,and 16-hour sessions for train-the-trainer, to workers and employers in the food processing, meatpacking, poultry, wholesale and retail sector industries. Target audience includes young workers, non English speaking or limited-English proficiency workers and minority workers.  Training topics will include identification and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders and worker rights. Plan to use existing training materials. Training will be offered in Spanish.

The grantee will provide 7.5-hour training to workers and employers and a 37.5-hour train-the-trainer training for union journey workers, along with 12-hour mentoring to experienced trainers in the construction industry. Target audience includes young workers, minority and other hard-to-reach workers in high-hazard industries and industries with high fatality rates. Training topics will include focus four construction hazards.  Plan to use existing training materials.

Target audience includes small businesses, limited English proficiency, low-literacy, minority and other hard-to-reach workers. Training topics will include best work practices, ergonomics, chemical hazards, biological hazards, and workers' rights under OSHA. Training materials will include PowerPoint presentations, instructor guides, and participant guides and exercises. Training will be offered in English and Vietnamese.
Associated General Contractors of America Inc Arlington VA $120,000 Construction Road Zones
The grantee will offer 7.5-hour highway work zone safety training to road construction workers, company officers, and managers. Training will be offered nationwide. Target audience includes low-literacy and limited English proficiency road construction workers. The training will review OSHA standards, proper set up of highway work zones, flagger safety, and heavy equipment and crane safety management. A CD of the training materials will be developed for distribution in class. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.

The grantee will provide 5-hour fall prevention training in residential construction training to vulnerable workers and employers.  Target audience includes small business and Portuguese and Spanish speaking vulnerable workers. Training topics will include an introduction to fall prevention, working on roofing with emphasis on residential construction, proper use of fall arrest systems, ladders, scaffolds, and worker rights.  Previously developed materials will be used. Training will be provided in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
California Rural Legal Assistance Inc Oakland CA $126,000 Workplace Violence
The grantee will provide 1.1-hour workplace violence training to farmworkers and dairy workers in California. Target audience includes limited English proficiency, low-literacy, minority, and other hard-to-reach workers, workers in high-hazard industries and small businesses. The topics will also include workers' rights and whistleblower protection. Training materials will include a trainer manual, problem solving scenario cards, a PowerPoint presentation, placards addressing key training elements and concepts, and a workplace violence prevention flyer. The grantee will deliver 4-hour training on chemical hazards and hazard communication with an emphasis on Globally Harmonized System to construction workers in Texas. The grantee will offer 1-hour general awareness and 6.5-hour training on occupational hazards encountered by temporary workers to workers, temporary staffing agencies, and host employers throughout the southeastern United States representing manufacturing sectors, including food manufacturing. The grantee will offer 4-hour fall prevention training to Latino residential and commercial construction workers in Illinois. Target audience includes small businesses, hard-to-reach workers, limited English proficiency, low-literacy, young and temporary workers. Training topics will include use of personal fall arrest systems, safety nets, unprotected floor and wall openings and fall protection on supported scaffolds. Legal Aid Justice Center Charlottesville VA $124,704 Fall Protection in Construction & Heat Illness
The grantee will present fall prevention in construction and heat illness prevention training to day laborers and will also provide heat illness training, chemical hazards/communication and ergonomic hazards to outdoor migrant farmworkers. Target audience includes low-literacy, limited English proficiency, temporary, minority and other hard-to-reach workers. Training topics will also include workers’ rights under OSHA and Virginia’s OSHA requirements. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.

The grantee will provide training programs for workers, employers and  4-hour train-the-trainer classes on workplace violence. Target audience includes small businesses, young workers, minority, and other hard-to-reach workers. Training topics will include an introduction to hazard identification and control, prevention, and mitigation of workplace violence, worker rights and whistleblower protection. Training materials will include handouts that are accessible for low-literacy youth and adult participants.

University of Southern Maine Portland ME $118,534 Hospitals, Nursing Homes, and Residential Care Facilities
The grantee will be developing two one-hour, web-based training programs on two high-priority training topics that address current EMS worker knowledge gaps: (1) workplace violenceand (2) heat and cold exposures. Training will be available at anytime and anywhere with an internet connection. The online training modules will include links to relevant handouts and to organizations and Web sites that can offer additional information on the topic. Training will be provided in English.
University of Texas at El Paso El Paso TX $125,964 Fall Prevention in Construction
The grantee will deliver 1.5- to 3-hour fall prevention and electrical safety training to workers and employers in residential and commercial construction in El Paso. Target audience includes workers in high-hazard industries and limited English proficiency workers.  Training topics will include recognizing fall hazards, fall protection requirements, understanding restraint and arrest, how to inspect and wear fall arrest equipment, and anchorage point requirements electrical hazards, electrical protection requirements and personal protective equipment. Training will be provided in Spanish.
University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston San Antonio TX $126,000 Agricultural Safety including Grain Handling Operations
The grantee will provide 1- and 2-hour dairy farm safe work practices training to workers and managers on large-herd dairy farms in New Mexico and Texas. Target audience includes small businesses, limited English proficiency, low-literacy, minority, and other hard-to-reach workers. Plan to use safety video vignettes on mobile devices to train workers on dairy farm hazards. Plan to update an online Dairy Farm Safety Toolkit on topics such as components of a safety program, safety leadership, manure lagoons, silage bunkers, hazardous chemicals, zoonotic diseases, animal handling, and machine handling.  Grant will also provide links to other safety and training resources for the dairy industry. Training will be provided in English and Spanish.
Voces de la Frontera Milwaukee WI $126,000 Ergonomic Hazards
The grantee will present 7.5-hour train-the-trainer and 1- to 2-hour ergonomics training to workers in the manufacturing, construction, and restaurant industries in Illinois and Wisconsin. Target audience includes limited English proficiency, low-literacy, immigrant, minority and high-hazard industries workers. Plan to revise existing Harwood grant materials and translate them into Spanish, Polish, Hmong, and Burmese. Training will be provided in these languages.
Waubonsee Community College Sugar Grove IL $107,525 Temporary Worker Hazards
The grantee will provide 3- and 4-hour training on temporary worker hazards to workers and employers in Illinois. Target audience includes small businesses, minority, low-literacy, limited English proficiency, and other hard-to-reach temporary workers. Training topics will include worker rights under OSHA, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, PPE, hazard communication including GHS, materials handling, ergonomics, respiratory protection, electrical safety, means of egress, powered industrial trucks, and fire safety. Training will include participatory activities. Training will be provided in both English and Spanish.

The grantee will present 1-hour and 2-hour training on Right-to-Know, Hazard Communication and Globally Harmonized System for operating engineers, other construction trades, facilities management personnel and limited English proficiency Hispanic workers. Target audience includes workers in high-hazard industries. Training will be delivered primarily through an Internet-based mobile training delivery system.  Training and materials will be provided in English and Spanish.

Hesperian Health Guides Berkeley CA $47,086 Chemical Hazards and/or Hazard Communication
The grantee will develop a train-the-trainer instructional package covering common workplace chemical hazards across multiple industries.  The target audience is limited English proficient workers. Training topics will include the identification, characteristics. and health effects of common workplace chemicals; how to reduce exposure to chemicals, personal protective equipment, and how to lead a peer discussion and other participatory activities regarding chemical hazards and exposure risks. The training package will consist of a Spanish translation of the grantee's current English language chemical hazards material, and the development of a discussion and activity Guide to assist in educating workers.
