The grantee will provide 2- and 4-hour hair and nail salon hazards training to workers in the hair and nail salon industry. The target audience includes workers with limited English proficiency, who are non- and low literacy, and minority workers. Using existing training materials, training will be offered in English and Vietnamese.
Associated General Contractors of America, The Arlington VA $139,859 Construction Focus Four
The grantee will provide 7.5-hour construction focus four training seminars in seven locations across the United States. The target audience includes union and non-union small businesses with non-English speaking and minority contract workers. Using existing training materials the materials will be made available on a CD-ROM and will be presented in English and Spanish.
California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc. Oakland CA $140,000 Heat Illness Prevention
The grantee will provide 70-minute heat illness prevention training to hard to reach agricultural workers in California. The target audience includes small business, temporary workers, warehouse workers, and high-hazard industry workers. Using existing training materials, workers will be trained in Spanish and local indigenous languages.

Plans are to develop new training materials and will include real life photographs, short film clips, and open discussions.

The grantee will provide a 12-hour train-the-trainer program for ergonomic and safety hazard prevention in green energy power-generation industry sector.
