Extension of Administrative Stay of Final Rule on Occupational Exposure to Formaldehyde, paragraphs (m)(1)(i) through (m)(4)(ii).
Abstract:

On 12/4/87, OSHA published a final rule (52 FR 46168) on occupational exposure to formaldehyde. On 12/13/88 OSHA announced an administrative stay of paragraphs (m)(1)(i) through (m)(4)(ii) for a period of nine months because of public confusion about the hazard warning provisions of the revised standard. OSHA also announced its intention to revoke paragraphs (m)(1)(i) through (m)(4)(ii) and invite comments on replacing them with the Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200) or another equally protective alternative which would be less confusing to the public. The stay was subsequently extended to 8/ 13/90. The stay is being extended an additional 120 days, to 12/11/90. While the stay is in effect, affected employers must continue to comply with the provisions of OSHA''s Hazard Communication Standard. CONTACT: James Foster, 202-523-8151.
