- Title:Approval of Maryland State Standards
The Maryland State plan provides for the adoption of all Federal standards as State standards after comments and public hearing. Section 1952.210 of Subpart O sets forth the State''s schedule for the adoption of Federal standards. By letters dated May 26, June 29, and July 20, 1992, from Commissioner Henry Koellein, Jr., Maryland Division of Labor and Industry, to Linda R. Anku, R.A., and incorporated as part of the plan, the State submitted state standards identical to:(1) 29 CFR 1910. 1030, pertaining to the Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens Standard for General Industry (56 FR 64174, Dec. 6, 1991); (2) 29 CFR 1910.1025, pertaining to amendments to the Occupational Exposure to Lead Standard for General Industry (55 FR 3166, Jan. 30, 1990); and (3) 29 CFR 1910.119, pertaining to the Process Safety Management of Highly Hazardous Chemicals, Explosives, and Blasting Agents (57 FR 6403, Feb. 24, 1992). These standards are contained in COMAR 09.12.31. Maryland occupational safety and health standards were promulgated after a public hearing Mar. 31, Feb. 5, and May 5, 1992, respectively. These standards became effective on May 31, June 8, and July 20, 1992, respectively. Having reviewed the State submissions in comparison with the Federal standards, it has been determined that the State standards are identical to the Federal standards and, accordingly, are approved. This decision is effective September 25, 1992.
