Subject: 1926.750(b)(2) Flooring Requirements

Reference: Your letter of October 26, 1976, to Mr. Florzak of our Milwaukee Office

Dear Mr. Wagner:

The Standard is very explicit in that planking shall be 2 inch full size undressed, or equivalent. The Standard is silent on the grade of planking required. With one known quantity given as a minimum, it is up to your engineering staff to determine what grade of planking or equivalent is required to provide a slip resistant surface.

This type of planking is not normally off the shelf type of order. Some advance scheduling is needed for securing this material. In most instances it will demand a premium price. The planking is available and can be secured in up to 16 inch width.

Should you need the name of a supplier, please call.

Very truly yours,

Barry J. White, Regional Administrator for
Occupational Safety and Health Administration
