US Department of Labor to offer whistleblower program webinar to educate Southeast stakeholders, employers, workers on federal protections

Background: The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration will hold a webinar on federal protections for whistleblowers and how the agency administers these regulations for people employed in OSHA's Southeast region, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The webinar will include presentations on whistleblower laws OSHA enforces, the criteria for filing a whistleblower complaint and how to file one, claim processes and procedures, and what happens during an investigation. Attendance is free, but registration is required.

OSHA's Whistleblower Protection Program enforces the whistleblower provisions of 25 whistleblower statutes, protecting employees from retaliation for reporting violations of workplace safety and health concerns in various industries, including airline, commercial motor carrier, consumer product, environmental, financial reform, food safety, health insurance reform, motor vehicle safety, nuclear, pipeline, public transportation agency, railroad, maritime, securities and tax laws, and for engaging in other related protected activities.
