Background: As part of the Permian Basin Excavation Safety Day, Monahans City Manager Rex M. Thee presented the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Damage Prevention Council of Texas' Permian Basin Chapter with a proclamation recognizing Aug. 10, 2023, as National Safe Digging Day. Widely known as "811 Day," the annual commemoration reminds employers, workers and others to call before beginning an excavation project to avoid damage to underground pipes and electrical lines.
