OSHA Forms Worker Safety and Health Partnership on Major Tampa, Fla., Construction Project
Signing Ceremony Set for July 24

TAMPA, Fla. -- The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has formed a partnership with Centex Construction and the University of South Florida Consultative Service to ensure that the highest level of safety and health is maintained for workers during the $139 million Villas at Reunion Square condominium construction project.

"The primary goals of this agreement are to reduce injuries and illnesses and eliminate fatalities during this major construction project," said Les Grove, OSHA's area director in Tampa, Fla. "We are committed to the safety and health of workers and want to provide employers with the necessary tools to develop an effective culture of safety."

The partnership will focus on increasing the number of employers in the construction industry that have effective safety and health management systems and incident-prevention programs. It will also attempt to increase the number of construction employees who receive effective safety and health training. The agreement requires participating employers to train non-English speaking employees adequately.

The project is one of several being built by Ginn Clubs and Resorts.
