US Department of Labor, DPR Construction partner to protect workers' safety, health at Atlanta’s Peachtree Corners Campus Development project

Partnership to focus on preventing worker injuries, exposure to construction hazards

ATLANTA – The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration signed a strategic partnership with DPR Construction to protect workers’ safety during construction of the Peachtree Corners Campus Development Phase II project in Atlanta.

The Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute’s Safety, Health and Environmental Program is supporting the partnership effort.

Participants will identify and work to prevent fall-related hazards, struck-by or caught-in materials or equipment. They will also address fire safety, protecting workers from heat illness, silica and noise exposure, and promoting safe work practices when using electrical equipment. Additionally, partnership participants will develop and implement safety and health management systems and provide training to employees, employers and supervisors.

"Public-private sector partnerships that focus on training and eliminating hazards during major construction projects improve workplace safety and health," said OSHA Area Office Director Joshua Turner in Atlanta-East. "OSHA applauds DPR Construction for its commitment to ensuring that every worker on the project ends their shift safely."

The Peachtree Corners Campus Development Phase II Project includes construction of a 599,105-square foot manufacturing building, a 394,566-square foot central courtyard and a training and welcome center.

OSHA's Strategic Partnership Program works with employers, employees, professional and trade associations, labor organizations and other interested stakeholders to establish specific goals, strategies and performance measures to improve worker safety and health.
