U.S. Postal Service-Bulk Mail Center Receives OSHA Recognition
Ceremony Scheduled June 14 in Des Moines

DES MOINES -- The U.S. Postal Service-Bulk Mail Center has earned membership in the prestigious "Star" Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) of the U.S. Department of Labor¿s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). A recognition ceremony is scheduled for June 14.

"The U.S. Postal Service has exhibited excellence in safety and health management at its Des Moines location," said Kansas City OSHA Regional Administrator Charles E. Adkins, certified industrial hygienist. "Their outstanding efforts have included management commitment to safety and health and employee involvement in safety and health programs among the 470 workers at the facility."

OSHA¿s Voluntary Protection Programs recognize and promote effective workplace safety and health management. Companies in VPP achieve average injury rates 50 percent lower than other companies in their industry. Nationwide, approximately 1,500 work sites participate in the program, representing more than 280 industries.

Employers are responsible for providing a safe and healthful workplace for their employees.
