Investigation Summary
At 1:35 p.m. on October 23, 2017, an employee and coworker were trimming several branches to maintain clearance of foliage near some overhead power lines. The employee sent the coworker around to the front of the house to put a work sign up on the property and, when the coworker returned, the employee was lying face down on the ground with his left arm bent behind his back. The employee climbed the line which was draped over the secondary utility lines with one end on the ground. The employee was unconscious but breathing and paramedics performed resuscitation before transport to Valley Medical Center. The employee suffered multiple fractures and injuries to his sternum, ribs, and vertebra. The employee passed away three days later while still in the hospital.
