Investigation Summary
At approximately 1:44 p.m. on July 2, 2020, Employee #1, an equipment operator employed by a transportation services company, was cleaning debris on the shoulder of a highway following an earlier tire blowout. He was standing approximately 10 feet in front of his Ford F-250 maintenance pickup truck, which had its warning lights activated. The driver of an SUV veered off the travel lane onto the shoulder, sideswiped the maintenance pickup truck, and struck the employee. Employee #1 was killed.
