Investigation Summary
On October 12, 2020, an employee who had worked as a Infection Control Nurse for a skilled nursing facility died from COVID-19 while hospitalized. The employee had worked in an office with one coworker. Her last day of work was September 22, 2020 at which time the employee received a COVID-19 PCR test while at work. The PCR test was was negative, but on September 30, 2020, the employee began to experience COVID-19 related symptoms and went to the hospital. On that same date, the employee received another COVID-19 test and tested positive. She remained in the hospital until her death. The employer did not have an adequate respiratory protection program in place.
