Investigation Summary
An employee was working as the director of maintenance in a skilled nursing facility when provided maintenance services for COVID-19 infected nursing home residents. The employee also performed COVID-19 testing for on-site employees. The employee contracted COVID-19 and died due to the illness on February 10, 2021. The employer required the use of respirators while providing services to COVID-19 residents without first undergoing medical evaluation and fit testing.
