Investigation Summary
At 11:09 a.m. on September 21, 2021, an employee had worked as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room of a hospital when she contracted COVID-19 and died. The employee worked in a area where patients having suspected or confirmed COVID-19 were regularly treated. The employee was working on a Friday and was admitted to the hospital the following day with a confirmed infection. The employee died three days later from complications related to COVID-19. Deficiencies were identified with COVID-19 protocols and respiratory protection program requirements.
