Investigation Summary
At 12:00 a.m. on January 27, 2022, a customer entered the store to retrieve his personal handgun, a Taurus G2C 9-mm semi-automatic pistol, that had been repaired by the gunsmith. The gunsmith walked behind the counter to assist the customer. The customer pulled his personal handgun from the holster, pulled the slide back to clear the round from the chamber, locked the slide in the back position, unlocked the slide, which chambered a round, removed the clip, and started to disassemble the handgun. The customer apparently pulled the trigger to remove the slide while disassembling the gun and shot the gunsmith in the chest, killing him. The cause of death on the medical examiner's report was listed as a gunshot wound of the chest.
