Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were permitted to operate Caterpillar Loaders without the use of a seatbelt: (a) Sawmill Yard: On or about March 9, 2016, and times prior, employees were permitted to operate the Caterpillar IT24F loader, equipped with forklift attachments, without the use of the manufacturer installed seatbelt, exposing them to crushing injuries associated with rollover hazards. (b) Sawmill Yard: On or about March 9, 2016, and times prior, employees were permitted to operate the Caterpillar 924G loader, equipped with forklift attachments, without the use of the manufacturer installed seatbelt, exposing them to crushing injuries associated with rollover hazards.
