Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
1910.212(a)(2) General requirements for machine guards. Guards shall be affixed to the machine where possible and secured elsewhere if for any reason attachment to the machine is not possible. The guard shall be such that it does not offer an accident hazard in itself. a. On and/or before September 15, 2020, on Line 11 in plant 3, the employer did not ensure that the barrier guard over the rotating parts at or near the pasta discharge chute on the Line 11 Lyco Blancher (model: 60"X16' BLANCH; S/N: BFI 522-B11) was secured with all bolts inserted to protect employees in the machine area. b. On and/or before September 15, 2020, on Line 11 in plant 3, the employer did not ensure that the bent/damaged barrier guard over the top of the hopper on the Line 11 Veggie Depositor 3 (model: 3800-000-022; S/N: 8713; Mfr.: FEMC Innovative Packaging Machinery) was properly attached/secured to protect employees in the machine area.
