Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught-between hazards: (a) On or about 4/2/2021 - 900 Huntsville Avenue, Birmingham, Alabama, in the rail yard at #7 switch, employees were exposed to caught-between hazards when a railcar was inadvertently diverted to a different track. Among other methods, one possible means of abatement is to ensure switches are provided with visual indicators to recognize the location of a switch where railcars are moved between tracks.
