29 CFR OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees used overhead cranes to lift coiled steel with crane hooks that were missing and/or had damaged latch hooks, not in accordance with ASME 30.2-2005, Overhead and Gantry Cranes, exposing employees to struck by hazards by materials becoming dislodged from the hook when being lifted. a. 2960 Woodbridge Ave., Edison, NJ - Production Area, D Line The employer did not ensure that latch hooks for overhead cranes were provided and/or ensure that latch hooks provided were functional. Employees engaged in the manufacture of metal building products used overhead cranes where latch hooks were missing the latch and/or the latch was not functioning in a manner intended by the manufacturer.
