Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.651(c)(2): A stairway, ladder, ramp or other safe means of egress was not located in trench excavations that were 4 feet (1.22m) or more in depth so as to require no more than 25 feet (7.62m) of lateral travel for employees: a) Worksite - On or about October 13, 2023, employees building a concrete form and installing rebar that were working on the northern end of the trench that was approximately 13 feet deep and approximately 45 feet in length had to walk the entire approximately 45 feet in length trench to the southern end of the trench to climb a 10-foot self-supporting A-Frame ladder (Werner) leaned against the side of the excavation to egress the trench. Employees did not have a safe means of egress.
