Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the recognized fire and explosion hazards associated with an improperly equipped and operated spray booth. Employees at the feed yard are exposed to fires and burns due to electrical equipment, which is not approved for flammable vapor environments, being used in the spray booth and due to combustible material being stored in the booth. Two halogen lights and a drill, which were not approved for the hazardous location, were stored and used in the spray booth. Combustible materials such as lumber and boxes were being stored in the spray booth. "NO SMOKING" signs were not posted in the area. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard include, but are not limited to the following: a)Install correct portable lighting and electrical equipment or remove the portable lights and drill from the spray booth in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 33 - 1995. b)Remove the combustible material from the spray booth in accordance with NFPA 33 - 1995. c)Post "NO SMOKING" signs in accordance with NFPA 33 - 1995.
