Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm due to fire and explosion: At the worksite: On or about January 20, 2012, the employer required employees to perform work during oil and gas well drilling operations without maintaining well control at all times. Employees were exposed to fire and explosion hazards. Among others, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to comply with American Petroleum Institute (API) Recommended Practice 54, Recommended Practice for Occupational Safety for Oil and Gas Well Drilling requirements.
