Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.100(a): Employees working in areas where there is a possible danger of head injury from impact, or from falling or flying objects, or from electrical shock and burns, shall be protected by protective helmet. The employer is failing to protect employees from struck-by hazards associated with working in trenching and excavations. The was most recently documented on or about January 11, 2019 at or near Stable Road, Saint Louis, MO 63110, where employees were working inside a trench measuring 7.5 ft. deep X 6 ft. wide without protective helmets. The spoil pile, tension cracks and loose debris were located between zero and twelve inches from the top edge of the excavation where employees were observed working without any head protection.
