Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.95(b)(1): When employees were subjected to sound exceeding those listed in Table G-16, feasible administrative or engineering controls were not utilized: At the jobsite located at 3373 NW 107th St, Miami, FL 33167, the employer failed to utilize feasible administrative or engineering controls to reduce or eliminate noise levels for employees who are exposed to noise, exceeding an 8-hour time-weighted average Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) of 90 decibels, when doing grinding and/or blending of metals. The following monitored employees exceeded the PEL (all exposure calculations included a zero increment for the time not sampled): a) A welder was exposed to continuous noise of 92 dBA or the equivalent noise dose of 132.5% during the 407 minute sampling period on March 26, 2019. b) A bench mechanic was exposed to continuous noise of 93.6 dBA or the equivalent noise dose of 166% during the 349 minute sampling period on June 28, 2019.
