1926.200(g)(1): At points of hazard, construction areas were not protected by traffic control devices. a) Rt 2, Friendly, WV - On or about 11/11/2019, the employer did not protect the work with devices. Recommended Abatement Action: Follow MUTCD 2009 Edition, Section 6E.08 Flagger Stations, which states: A short taper having a minimum length of 50 feet and a maximum length of 100 feet with channelizing devices of approximately 20-foot spacing should be used to guide traffic. Flagger stations shall be located such that approaching road users will have sufficient distance to stop at an intended stopping point. (Use guidance in Table 6E-1. Stopping Sight Distance as a Function of Speed: For posted speed of road, e.g. 50 mph 425 feet) Except in emergency situations, flagger stations shall be preceded by an advance warning sign or signs. Follow MUTCD 2009 Edition, Section 6G.03 Location of Work, which states: When the work space is within the traveled way, except for short-duration and mobile operations, advance warning shall provide a general message that work is taking place and shall supply information about highway conditions. TTC devices shall indicate how vehicular traffic can move through the TTC zone.
