Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.272(h)(1): Each employee who walks or stands on or in stored grain, where the depth of the grain poses an engulfment hazard, was not equipped with a lifeline or alternative means which the employer demonstrates will prevent the employee from sinking further than waist-deep into the grain: The employer is falling to protect employees from grain engulfment hazards associated with entering and walking on grain within a flat grain storage structure during grain removal and transfer activities. The condition was most recently documented on February 22, 2019, at the establishment located at 200 S. Main St., Cimarron, Kansas. An employee entered the flat storage structure and was walking on the grain more than waist deep without a lifeline to remove the bulk head holding in the grain with approximately 350,000 bushels of wheat.
