Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.217(c)(2)(i):Every point of operation guard shall meet the following design, construction, application, and adjustment requirements: (a) It shall prevent entry of hands or fingers into the point of operation by reaching through, over, under or around the guard; (b) It shall conform to the maximum permissible openings of Table O-10; (d) It shall utilize fasteners not readily removable by operator, so as to minimize the possibility of misuse or removal of essential parts; a) On or about 5/23/2022 the employer did not ensure that the point of operation on the Johnson #317 (model # 27W ) part revolution power press was properly guarded to prevent employees from reaching through, over, under or around guard. In that the part exit opening measured (7 1/2" X 4 3/4") allowing employees the ability to reach in past the guard. b) Employees were able to remove the fasteners holding the guards in place with a common 3/16 allen wrench allowing access the point of operation, exposing employees to a caught in hazard. c) On or about 5/23/2022 the employer did not ensure that the point of operation on the Rousselle #313 (model # 6B) part revolution power press were properly guarded to prevent employees from reaching through, over, under or around guard. in that employees were able to remove the fasteners holding the guards in place with a common 3/16 allen wrench allowing access the point of operation, exposing employees to a caught in hazard.
