29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(i)(A): Each authorized employee shall receive training in the recognition of applicable hazardous energy sources, the type and magnitude of the energy available in the workplace, and the methods and means necessary for energy isolation and control. On or about November 2, 2022, the employer did not ensure that employees who performed service and maintenance tasks on Slitter 74 were adequately trained on the means and methods needed to effectively isolate and control hazardous energy sources. Employees were exposed to pinch and nip point hazards of equipment in operation which could result in caught-in, crushing and amputation injuries. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
