AVD:29 CFR 1910.106(c)(5) The employer failed ensure piping that is subject to external corrosion is painted or otherwise protected against corrosion. a)This condition was observed in the DHN Unitof the DuPont facility where process piping carrying flammable liquids was subjected to external corrosion and was not painted or protected against corrosion. Examples include: -Inlet spool to RV-J-0111, line #739 shown on P&ID B161019 -Inlet spool to RV-J-0110, line #705 shown on P&ID B161018 -Vacuum Jet System (7080-35) for purge column -Pipe spool A625 at nozzle on bottom of the Letdown Separator (7020-6) -Hydrogen line on upper level on Aniline Unit -Inlet spool to Letdown Tank (7020-04), line #256 shown on P&ID B161143 b)This condition was observed in the Aniline Unit of the DuPont facility where process piping carrying flammable liquids was subjected to external corrosion and was not painted or protected against corrosion. Examples include: -Purge/extraction piping attached to large diameter piping carrying benzene and nitrobenzene to the Quench Column. -Hot decanter vent line on 4th level of DHN coming off South #2 Reactor -Nitrogen piping on 4th level of DHN -Glass-lined pipe (line #7110-1-7) from North (#1) Reactor -Valve on top of North (#1) Reactor to 2PT2577 -Piping off top of South (#2) Reactor -Piping off bottom of North (#1) Reactor from the Cool Decanter -Process water line from the Cool Decanter
