Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.95(c)(1): The employer did not administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program as described in 29 CFR 1910.9(c) through (o) whenever employee noise exposures equal or exceed an 8-hour time-weighted average sound level of 85 decibels measured on the A scale, or equivalently a dose of fifty percent: a) Welding area, on or about 8/3/16: The employer did not administer a hearing conservation program for employees at the facility who weld , air arc and plasma cut. Representative sampling by OSHA showed that an employee in welding area during air arc-ing was exposed to continuous noise at a level of 152.4 % of the dose for the permissible exposure limit (PEL). The equivalent dBA for the 152.4 % is 93 dBA calculated as an 8 hour time weighted sound pressure level. Sampling was done for 384 minutes with a zero increment included for 96 minutes not sampled.
