29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Re-pack Line 1; On or about September 13, 2016, employees working the grading/sorting table were exposed to potential amputation hazards due to unguarded ingoing nip points created by moving rollers passing by the stationary aluminum produce deflector plate. b) Re-pack Line 2; On or about September 13, 2016, employees working the grading/sorting table were exposed to potential amputation hazards due to unguarded ingoing nip points created by moving rollers passing by the stationary aluminum produce deflector plate. c) Re-pack Line 5; On or about September 13, 2016, employees working the grading/sorting table were exposed to potential amputation hazards due to unguarded ingoing nip points created by moving rollers passing by the stationary aluminum produce deflector plate. d) Re-pack Line 6; On or about September 13, 2016, employees working the grading/sorting table were exposed to potential amputation hazards due to unguarded ingoing nip points created by moving rollers passing by the stationary aluminum produce collection bin and deflector plate. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
