Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels is not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, a personal fall arrest system, or an alternative fall protection measure as provided by another provision in paragraph (b) of this section: a. Employees performing roofing work are not protected from fall hazards by the use of a fall protection system. The employer fails to assure effective protections against falls as required by the standard, as demonstrated on July 11, 2019, when a female employee with a brown hat, a striped long sleeve shirt, and blue jeans, is working on the south slope of the roof on a residential roof with a 6:12 pitch at 2328 Keaton Chase Drive, Fleming Island, Florida, and is exposed to an 8 feet fall hazard to the ground in that she is not attached to a personal fall protection system.
