Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the recognized electrical shock hazards associated with improper electrical installations. Employees are the feed yard facility were exposed to electrical shock hazards and injury due to electrical installations not meeting the National Electrical Code (NEC). A four plex receptacle inside of the Mill Office was not effectively closed and a section of conduit was pulled apart from a junction box north of the Mill Office. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard include, but are not necessarily limited to the following: a)Install a four plex receptacle which is listed for the location and use and which is effectively closed, i.e. no open knockouts. b)Reattach conduit to the junction box. Abatement certification is required for this violation. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed with the citations.ion
