29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. Employees working from second floor balconies are not protected from falls of approximately sixteen (16) feet six (6) inches to the ground. This most recently observed on March 19, 2019 at the jobsite located at 1340 W. Walton Street, Chicago, IL. 60642. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, the employer must submit documents describing the steps it is taking to ensure compliance, including an explanation of how these steps protect its employees from fall hazards.
