29 CFR 1910.23(c)(7)(ii): Employer did not establish a temporary barricade to keep traffic away from the ladder. The employer is failing to protect employees from ladder tip over and fall hazards. While using stepladders associated with retail sales activities. This was most recently documented on or about June 1, 2019, at Academy Sports + Outdoors at 14405 West 135th Street in Olathe, Kansas. An employee engaged in retail activities, retrieving a JUGS Lite Pitching Machine from a gondolas top shelf, using a Werner A frame, eight foot ladder (Werner Model PT7408-4C, size 8 ft. Type IA Fiberglass Stepladder with casters) was exposed to ladder tip over and fall hazards. The employer did not ensure that a temporary barricade was it provided or in place to prevent pedestrian traffic from entering the work area around the base of the ladder.
