29 CFR 1926.651(j)(2): Protection was not provided by placing and keeping such materials or equipment at least 2 feet (.61m) from the edge of excavations, or by the use of retaining devices that were sufficient to prevent materials or equipment from falling or rolling into excavations, or by a combination of both if necessary: The employer is failing to protect employees from struck-by hazards associated with trenching and excavations. The most recent example of this was on December 31, 2019 at or near 1505 Schoettler Road, Chesterfield, Missouri 63017. Employees were exposed to struck-by hazards while working below excavated rock, dirt and soil piles located within 2 feet of the excavation edge.
