29 CFR 1926.701(b): All protruding reinforcing steel, onto and/or into which employees could fall, was not guarded to eliminate the hazard of impalement: Employees involved in masonry operations are exposed to being impaled from unprotected vertical rebar. This was most recently observed on March 19, 2019 at the jobsite located at 1334 W. Walton Street, Chicago, IL. 60642. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, the employer must submit documents describing the steps it is taking to ensure compliance, including an explanation of how these steps protect its employees from impalement hazards. Polo Masonry Builders, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 1926.701(b), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1177934, citation number 1, item number 6 and was affirmed as a final order on March 31, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at 1000 W. Montana, Chicago, IL 60614.
