29 CFR 1910.184(d): Inspections. Each day before being used, the sling and all fastenings and attachments shall be inspected for damage or defects by a competent person designated by the employer. Additional inspections shall be performed during sling use, where service conditions warrant. Damaged or defective slings shall be immediately removed from service. On or about March 1, 2022, with respect to an establishment located at 1101 Perry St, Algoma, WI 54201, the employer did not ensure that employees were inspecting slings and had the knowledge necessary to look for damage and defects rendering the slings as unsafe for use.
