29 CFR 1910.219(a)(2): Vertical and inclined belts (paragraphs (e) (3) and (4) of this section) if not more than two and one-half (2 1/2) inches wide and running at a speed of less than one thousand (1,000) feet per minute, and if free from metal lacings or fastenings were not guarded with a nip-point belt and pulley guard. a) Lumber/Mill Yard: On or about August 01, 2017, and at times prior thereto the employer exposed employees to potential amputation hazards and caught-in hazards in that employees were required to work at or near vertical and inclined belts pulley assemblies that were not guarded on equipment such as but not limited to the Debarker, Trim Saw Systems.
