Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 011A Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(4): Ladders shall be used only for the purpose for which they were designed. (a)Command Center, Inc. at 132-136 S. Phillips Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57104: On or about and at times prior to December 1, 2016, the employer did not ensure a ladder within the Lewis Drug Downtown project was used for the purpose in which it was designed. Employees were using a ladder that was originally designed to travel on a rail system above the Copper Lounge to retrieve alcohol bottles from behind the bar. Employees removed the ladder from the track system and leaned it against a wall to allow access to the mezzanine during demolition activities. This hazard exposed the employees to fall hazards from heights of approximately 7 feet.
